Green is the way to go nowadays. Everyone is trying to find a way to do their part in helping keep a brighter world for tomorrow. One of those ways is through activated carbon to filter out harmful toxins. Activated carbon is used in the medical field to help remove poisons from people who ingest harmful chemicals or overdose on medications. However, it’s the large-scale use to help the environment that really has people talking. It is used as a filter for large city water systems as well as to prevent harmful pollutants from entering the atmosphere.
Activated carbon injection is a process that helps make burning coal cleaner. America relies fairly heavily on the burning of coal to create electricity for homes and businesses, especially in the eastern United States. However, there are literally millions of tons of pollutants created from this burning process. With activated carbon, it helps to filter out quite a bit of the toxins for a more efficient and clean burn. Producing activated carbon is a growing business and the implementation of activated carbon in power plants is key to its ongoing success. Everyone has an impact on the environment, but new technologies are helping to make some of that impact less noticeable.

I find this article to be deeply disturbing. Why on Earth are we using chemicals that do not break down in the natural environment, and pose a health risk if they contaminate our water system? With all of the environmental reform that is going on these days, I do not understand why companies that produce these sorts of compounds have not come up with a different way to fight fires. With how technologically advanced this country is, we should have the resources to come up with a different answer. How many people need to be affected before we change what we are using? Additionally, it’s not just humans that are affected, wildlife are also sharing the same water supply as the humans! I’m quite sure that it is not a good thing if they are ingesting perfluorochemicals.
I found humor in the statement made by the health educator of the Minnesota Health Department, who says, “We don’t make a habit of recommending treatment. For those who would feel more comfortable having it, they have been shown to be effective.” They don’t recommend residents treat their water with activated carbon filtration devices, even though they’re shown to be effective? It sounds more like the state of Minnesota doesn’t want to be held responsible for this contamination, or does not want to have to foot the bill to provide water filters to the affected residents. This sounds pretty cheap to me.

How to make Hydrogen Peroxide directly? We have been producing Hydrogen Peroxide by an indirect method. However, the researchers have recently developed a new method to make Hydrogen Peroxide directly. Gold-palladium catalyst is used to make Hydrogen peroxide. In the new method, we need to pre treat the support for the gold-palladium catalyst.
The need for Hydrogen peroxide is increasing day by day. It is used for disinfecting and bleaching purposes. The demand will increase considerably in future. The current indirect method involves sequential hydrogenation and oxidation of an anthraquinone. The current method while making Hydrogen peroxide also coverts H2O2 into water.
In the new method activated carbon, support is preheated with either nitric acid or acetic acid. Then the support is dried and finally gold and palladium are added to it. In this method, Hydrogen peroxide is made with minimum conversion to H2O. That means there is a clear increase in the production and in productivity.
After conducting a series of hydrogenation experiments, the researchers have found out that acid pretreatment of the catalyst support leads to smaller nano particles, which minimize the conversion of H2O2 into water.
With this new method, we can make Hydrogen peroxide directly. This would save a lot of time and raw material costs. This new method will certainly help you to increase your production and productivity to a great extent.

Celebrating Dave Limtiaco and what he stood for
Many things come to mind when i think of someone who did wonderful things during there life. This man did more than that he was a man with dedication and love for people to help make a difference in others lives despite many obstacles in the way. Family and friends of this man Dave Limtiaco have celebrated his one year first anniversary rosary. Dave was in the Forestry Division of the Department of Agriculture in Mangilao in Guam. At the time when this reporter who just moved to Guam in May of 2005 had needed to write a story about all the wild fires blazing through the south of Guam.
As Tammy Jo Anderson walked into this mans office Dave’s meeting him and just seemed to be more comfortable outside in his boots then right behind his computer at his desk. Many discussions about the wildfires he started to convince her that the fires were bad and caused by millions of dollars of damage to which it destroyed many properties and wild life it hurt in its way. As well as ruin of the water. This man was passionate about how he felt about this effect on the wildlife this fire had.
Many plants destroyed and the best soil gone. Soil just blown away and got washed out down the rivers. Trees with hearty life gone, grass destroyed and nothing to show for it anymore. The dirt here in Guam turns into red mud and washes down to the rivers after huge amounts of rain.These fires even affect the fisherman of the area as well. Homes gone and destroyed by the fires that fish lived in reefs. Most horrible part of it all is the these fires were set on purpose not by accident.
These fires are caused by hunters who shoot off there guns to get deer and pigs which shoots out into the burned areas which then gets destroyed by the fires. The life of this man was heartfelt and he will be missed. His family and friends remember him on this day one year later and know he lay in peace.

It is first in its kind as it is meant for studying the atmospheric carbon dioxide (co2).This will lead to discovery of the sources and sinks of carbon dioxide as many harmful effects are caused by it .The most drastic harmful effect is GREEN HOUSE EFFECT which is changing the environmental climatic conditions for example the melting of ice at poles and an increase in the temperature of the climate.
